The Motorola-Symbol MC3100 Series Mobile Computers build upon its predecessor, the Motorola-Symbol MC3000 Series. Equipped with a feature called Motorola MAX Rugged and its IP54 Category 2 rating, the Motorola-Symbol MC3100 mobile computers are safe against obstacles such as drops, dust, and liquids. Advanced encryption, FIPS140-2 certification and utilization of Virtual Private networks (VPNs) is available on the Motorola-Symbol MC3100 mobile computers, otherwise known as Motorola MAX Secure.

Another great feature of the Motorola-Symbol MC3100 mobile computer is Motorola MAX Sensor, which includes MOtorola Interactive Sensor Technology (IST). The screen is able to switch between portrait and landscape, based on the orientation of the Motorola-MC3100 mobile computer. It also includes power management, which turns the Motorola-Symbol MC3100 mobile computer into sleep mode if there is no movement. Also, to figure out worker accountability, there is a feature that is able to log and detect drops.
